Epoch Times needs to realize that what had happened to them in China had been orchestrated by the "same group of people" controlling our Nation.

Ok. The CCP is a Genocidal, Mass Murdering State. And they control all communications, manufacturing and the private lives (for the most part) in China. Is that better?

Or are you a shill for a Genocidal, Mass Murdering State?

I never subscribed because everything I came across seemed simply to bash China. It’s not that i think we are or should be allies with the CCP, but bias diminishes credibility. I’m still hunting for a news source. But I thought the neocons were the ones supporting China and the multipolar new world order. Biden always seems to give China a pass.

I agree with you on Epoch Times. There are perfectly logical, practical reasons to despise communists, and yet I’ve seen little if any CCP-directed venom in ET of the kind American progressives spew on America and Americans. Regardless of inevitable editorial slant, any media outlet that allows public comments on content is on the right path.

How many illegal territorial wars has China been involved in in, say, the last 50 years? And the US? You're missing the point. I am not a fan of the CCP either and there is plenty to criticize, but hatred of a country is counter-productive because it closes dialogue and communications. And in the case of a publication, it introduces an unnecessary bias where there should be impartiality and balance. This lack of impartiality calls into question the entire content and this is what turns me personally away from ET.

You may not have heard anyone at ET state "I hate China" directly, but that's hardly the point. Have you ever heard anyone at ET ever say anything POSITIVE about China? That would be more to the point?

And beyond the US, Europe and Australasia, China is widely accepted as the preferred trading partner because it enters into win/win trading arrangements without any political strings attached and no threats of sanctions should the relationship sour.

Since you come from the antipodes, I'm also very surprised that Australia should have chosen to take every opportunity to attack China, it's largest trading partner, publicly instead of pursuing quiet diplomacy to air disagreements. As an Asia-Pacific nation, I would have thought that Australai should have a better understanding of Asian culture and the Asian way of doing things. "Face" is very important in asia and these overt attacks on China have only damaged relations. Then, remarkably, Australia expresses "surprise" that China would seek alternative sources for agricultural commodities etc. Does that make any sense?

I'm not making judgements and I'm not stating preferences, I just try to keep an open mind on everything and whilst I have no liking for the Chinese CCP or system, the world is changing like it or not and we need to remain engaged. I'm just saying that in geopolitical terms, and present realities, there ARE different perspectives which ET should represent if it wishes to be taken seriously as an impartial news alternative to MSM.

Incidentally, I would also like to acknowledge that ET has done sone truly excellent work on Covid. I'm unvaccinated and an active member of the Medical Freedom Movement, which ET clearly supports. I would be happy to support them but the China hatred sticks in my throat given global realities.

Thanks for your reporting Doc. I made the transition to sanity from the depths of Democrat liberalism just a short while out of college. I often wonder how I acquired that knowledge at such a young age. I still have what are considered classic liberal beliefs, I thought the ACLU in its early days was on point by supporting the Nazi March in Skokie for example and still do. Although, many of those classic liberal beliefs are now Conservative beliefs. The Democrats are basically Marxists today.

Amazon Stock has a PE ratio of 79 and does not pay a dividend. $100 million a year to control the narrative so people don't find out your stock is severely overpriced which allows you to maintain your $200 billion fortune is worth it. You also get to control personal and political narratives. This is a huge win for Bezos as it might be worth losing a couple billion a year before he even thinks about changing.

Edward Zebrowski's avatar

Sorry, but whenever someone makes the “tax write off” argument I am compelled to make the argument that a tax write off still represents a loss of value depending on the tax rate. For example, a $100M tax write off requires a $100M expenditure. If you just paid the taxes on the $100M then you put $50M or more extra in your pocket. Where is the benefit?

Only way it works is if you make a donation of an asset and significantly overstate its value by more that it’s really worth but then you open yourself up to the taxes and fines for fraud.
