"before there was a Palestine there was a Judea" - LMAO. That was when? Oh yea before the Romans crushed 2 uprisings (66 AD & 132 AD). Ain't been Judean for a long long long time.
So after 1800+ years they can still claim "It's ours"? Damn. That doesn't bode well as you've just given the natives in North America full rights. Be careful of the precedent you set LOL.

There was never a Palestine either. There were Arabs living there, for sure, but never as an independent people with their own government. They were people living under the Othoman Empire). And there were Jews living there too, BTW, though they were a minority.
So when the Jewish people wanted to have their own state, it made sense to go back to the land of their fathers, especially given there were already Jewish communities in Jerusalem, Sephad and a few other places.
At the time it was not very crowded and it was basically one of the many territories of the Othoman Empire where people of various ethnic origins lived.
And it's not like Jews had anywhere else to go, if they wanted their own state.
"They were people living under the Othoman Empire" - The British controlled it from WW1 to the end of WW2. The area was always under the control one empire or another, not the locals, since Roman times. The Balfour Declaration was 1917.
"So when the Jewish people wanted to have their own state, it made sense to go back to the land of their fathers" - The mid east in general and Palestine in particular is not the traditional or genetic home of 90+% of Jews that went there.
"And it's not like Jews had anywhere else to go" - The Zionists limited their choice to "Palestine only" causing the deaths of tons of Jews. The Zionists rejected the expulsion of Jews from Europe to Africa (not great but better than dying). The Zionist in Roosevelt's cabinet made sure that ship with 800+ Jewish escapees got sent back to Europe. The Zionists literally said "The old shall have to suffer their fate" because they were not needed for their Palestine project.
Well, it's hard to go into great historical detail in a comment on a substack thread.
You are correct that Brits ruled it in the time you mention, however when the first Jewish settlers came at the end of the 19th century it was under Ottoman rule.
There was indeed a plan by some people to settle Jews in Africa, specifically Uganda. But it's not exactly like no one lived in Uganda either, and I don't know if it would have gone any better.
No nation or people is 100% genetically related to each other and to a historical region, nonetheless people do have such a sense of identity. Personally I could do without it, but that seems to be a minority opinion in today's world.
The land was given to the children of Israel by God, and the deed is in scripture. Nevermind that they were removed from that land and taken into captivity for their sins. Neither native Americans, nor transplanted western Europeans have any such claim on the North American continent, but it is what it is.
Our natives in Canada, BC in particular because of lack of treaties, already claim rights over the entire land, since time immemorial [I am not aware of a written record, so it all depends on tribal elders' claims and memories]. The Jews have 5000 years of recorded stories so cannot claim "time immemorial."
With overlapping claims the tribes would own 300% of the land area. This feels similar to the situation in the artificial land of "Palestine."
I have noted the ongoing disinclination of Arab and Muslim countries to accept Palestinian refugees.

If the natives had nuclear weapons you might be inclined to negotiate a coexistence.
