тАЬGenocideтАЭ does not mean what you think it means. ItтАЩs yet another overused word that people toss around for effect.

She went through the trouble of giving the dictionary definition and you want to argue!

Thanks. It wasn't much trouble getting the definition. The trouble arises when people, as you say, want to argue. But reasonable discussion is sometimes a good thing. Emphasis on reasonable. Ad hominem strategies don't result in reasonable discussions.

You are just too funny for words. Incidentally, I hate those phones. As a little, old lady I take mine along when I drive in case of problems. I do my internet interactions via my computer, with a tower(!) and everything. I do have a Japanese car however.

See how ignorant I can be. I had to look it up. I do care about the Uyghurs. Are the Ainu victims of genocide by the Japanese? Inquiring minds and all that.

Here is a definition. Make of it what you will. Yes, indeed, in my opinion re definition Hitler practiced genocide against the Jews. Ya think? Also Catholics, homosexuals, Gypsies, etc.

Genocide refers to the deliberate and systematic destruction of a group of people based on their ethnicity, nationality, religion, or race. The United Nations Genocide Convention, established in 1948, defines genocide as any of the following five acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group:

Killing members of the group: This includes direct violence resulting in death.

Causing serious bodily or mental harm: Inflicting physical or psychological suffering on individuals within the targeted group.

Imposing living conditions intended to destroy the group: Creating conditions that lead to the groupтАЩs demise, such as deprivation of basic necessities.

Preventing births: Intentionally hindering procreation within the group.

Forcibly transferring children out of the group: Removing children from their families or communities to prevent the groupтАЩs continuity.

Victims are specifically targeted because of their real or perceived membership in a particular group, rather than randomly12. Genocide is widely considered the epitome of human evil and has been referred to as the тАЬcrime of crimesтАЭ 3 . Over the years, various instances of genocide have occurred, resulting in significant loss of life and displacement of millions of people. It remains a critical issue that demands global attention and prevention.

Enough of this. I have to get some errands run, places to go, people to see. As I don't use my phone for these interactions, I have to get away from my computer.

Of course, I am anti-war. I protested Vietnam, Iraq, et al. in person in my more mobile days. Here are specific comments regarding genocide (from above). This is the generic definition of genocide, btw. Obviously, all these can also be applied to war, ESPECIALLY if both sides have the means to fight one another and are more equally armed and "manned"/personned. The last of the three is particularly relevant. There was a very good movie jointly made by Israeli and Palestinian film companies that showed the life of a Palestinian who worked in Jerusalem and the Israeli guards with whom he dealt on a daily basis. It was not sentimentalized and seemed fair to both sides. I wish I could remember the name of it.

Now I'm turning this Lorelei siren call off. At the outset I simply wanted to voice another perspective on what's happening. No one is about to be persuaded by the other's point of view on this substack . Bye bye.
