Look, I've got nothing against religious folks. Used to believe with all my heart, and spent most of my time getting beat down for it. Usually metaphorically, sometimes literally. Atheism certainly has no appeal to me.
But religious people who just say "believe in God" or whatever are overlooking a few practical matters.
First, if all of the good people just sit back and pray, then any possible solution to the problems on earth can only ever be implemented by the non-devout. And I sincerely doubt any of them are aiming for holy goodness. You're leaving your fate -- and mine -- in the hands of bad actors, by being passive. I take great issue with this, as I cannot imagine God wanting me to stand by while many suffer. So I choose to fight, however futile it may be. I'll let divine judgment sort that out later, if it even comes to that.
Second, yes, I went to Sunday school until I was 13. I've read the Revelation. But as my lapsed Catholic father pointed out, mankind is corrupt, and therefore all of the spiritual texts - and institutions - have been subject to 2,000 years of man's earthly corruption. Pardon me if I'm skeptical that the scribes were entirely honest, especially once the printing press was invented. We've just spent three years of watching powerful authority figures blatantly lie to us. The church isn't immune, either; a quick primer on its history, in both the recent and distant past, will bear that out.
Third, Christianity has usually been tolerated because of its passivity and the misinterpretation that it's pro-forced-socialism. In recent years, when the powerful could not eliminate it for their agenda, they began to corrupt it from within, as they do with all things.
If there is a God then it's been millenia of suffering, strife, and hardship, often on innocent people. Just days ago, children were burned alive alone in their homes in Hawaii because of the callous indifference and incompetence of those I choose to stand against in this world. If you want to head to a Judgment Day and show up and say that you basically did NOTHING against the evil of the world, other than pray for some miracle to fix it, I suppose that is your business, and I will respect your right to make your own decisions. But that is not /my/ way.
I can overlook all of the romantic heartbreak of my youth knowing that at least it led me to ultimately marry the right person. Almost none of those other potential/failed relationships would have survived the Covid years (literally, I can only think of one that even would have had a CHANCE). But I cannot imagine what possible reason a good and just God would inflict years of mandates, suffering, strife, and medical damage, upon both myself and others. Tell me why your God sent our foster child of many years back to her abusive, manipulative, junkie criminal mother, who cut off all contact after promising not to. NO. I have no forgiveness or mercy for forces like that in the world. We can't even have our own. And according to you, that's what your God did. If I were to literally believe in anything biblical, I'd most likely postulate that the rapture already happened, and the rest of us were left behind for the thousand years of tribulation. It's the most likely explanation I can think of in line with the theology that I know.
I will leave with a darker thought: after watching Oppenheimer (spoilers ahead!), there's a couple blink-and-you'll-miss-it points in the movie. One is when all the scientists gather to imagine what splitting the atom means. They ultimately conclude a bomb, and that means that any group with the intelligence to do the math, plus the resources to refine uranium, can ultimately destroy the world. If I can conclude this, so did the wealthy and powerful, who have, steadily since the 1950's, worked to diminish the average human's intelligence, independence, and ability, and to take control of as many natural resources and as much economic production as possible.
The second is when the movie's villain, Strauss, points out that power exists in the shadows. He was implied to be "wrong" for this by the movie's narrative, but the "refutation" was the junior senator from Massachusetts, JFK, voting against him. At the time, out of context, that may seem like a victory for disinfecting sunlight, but... remind me again about JFK's ultimate fate? Oh, right: the shadow puppeteers took him out, and it's been a straight line (specifically, a steeply declining slippery slope) from there to here.
I say the only way to make that better is to fight back. Even if, as Trevor says, we'll apparently be fighting forever -- a better world is still worth fighting for. To use an analogy, let’s say that you happen to live in New York City and for whatever reason you have inside intelligence that nuclear weapons are imminently en route to New York but for whatever reason you are the only one who knows this information. Wouldn’t your instinct be to warn people to evacuate and leave as quickly as possible? Or would your instinct be to run for mayor and gain a position of power in the hopes you could change the result? The analogy may seem ridiculous but in my mind that’s what we are doing by trying to change this world in any way from the top down. It just won’t work.
I am truly sorry that you have experienced such trauma in your life. But you are speaking to someone who has experienced trauma himself. When I was 4 years old I had leukemia and spent two years with an extremely weak immune system, unable to interact with other children, make friends, multiple weeks on end in the hospital, nearly dying. When they discovered my cancer 80% of my blood was cancerous and 30% of my bone marrow was cancerous. By Gods grace I was saved due to His provision and good doctors. That’s not the case for many pediatric cancer patients.
Why is that? I don’t know.
Is it hard for me to comprehend? Yes.
But I am also not God and place myself in the position to judge God or His goodness is quite presumptuous. From our perspective evil, trauma and suffering seem unreasonable. Evil is something God hates too. But evil is also not Gods fault, it’s ours. We permitted it, and its consequences (“the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23) fall on us. We made this choice. Whenever we sin we show that we love evil more than good. (John 3:19 “This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.”) This is part of the curse. It’s horrible and awful. But it’s also temporary. Eventually God will judge between the righteous and the wicked. The wicked will be doomed to be forever separate from God, the source of life, and be condemned to eternal death. When all is set right, for those who are in Christ, who love Him and are redeemed by Him, and the world is made new, all of our pain and suffering will be but a passing memory. (2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;”)
I don’t know why God allowed what happened to your beloved foster child. I hate that the foster care system rips kids from good homes and puts them into the hands of their abusive parents who care little for them. It’s a story I’ve heard far too often (And one time is too often IMO). I can’t see the whole picture but God can. He sees the end from the beginning and when you get to judgement day you will see that there will be no charge that you can level against Him that will stick. He is perfect.
As an illustration, I know of a man who lost both his legs fighting in the military. It bound him to a wheelchair for life. He could’ve been angry at God for letting it happen, he was disabled and crippled for the rest of his life, but he wasn’t angry. This man had a conversation with a bitter atheist one time who asked him “How can you worship a God who did this to you? He left you crippled for life and you praise Him?” (I’m paraphrasing it was something like that) The crippled man’s response essentially was “well, that’s why you started talking to me wasn’t it? Because I lost my legs? That’s what prompted you to talk to me. And that gave me an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with you.”

If you are unfamiliar with his story I’ll give his life story in brief here. Muller came from a wealthy background and lived the spoiled prince type life for quite some time. He enjoyed all that the world had to offer and quite liked it. Eventually in his twenties he had an encounter with Jesus that caused him to completely transform. He ended up being disinherited by his father (for his faith if I remember correctly) and took a pastors job at a church in England. Eventually however he grew to be disgusted with the corruption of the church he was a part of. They would take pew rentals as a form donation to the church which would guarantee a better seat for those with more wealth. Muller viewed this as a direct violation of Scripture and disavowed all payment from
the church. This left him without an income. He began a practice of confiding in God alone for all his needs. He would not inform anyone of their financial or material needs. He believed the promise of Scripture that God provides for our every need as a Heavenly Father and if we but trust Him to provide while doing His work, He will do so. Financial resources began to pour in as he needed them. It was never more than he needed, but precisely what he needed at the time. Sometimes down to the minute. He eventually believed that God wanted him to start an orphanage without financial backing of any sort as a step of faith in Bristol. He continued this same practice, and every single one of his volunteers at the orphanage did the same thing. Muller and his team strictly enforced secrecy of their financial needs. They did not tell anyone outside of the orphanage about their needs and trusted God would provide. Their needs were met every single time, without fail. He and his volunteers sometimes went without luxuries, but the children were never without anything that they needed. He built an entire orphan house that housed over 8000 orphans (I can’t remember the exact number right now) over the course of its existence. Eventually people who knew what Müller was doing encouraged him to write a book to show how God had been faithful to the work he called them to. This is what is written down in “The Autobiography of George Müller”. Parts of the book read like an accounting record as he details God’s faithfulness and it is absolutely amazing. His story is similar to others such as Hudson Taylor and Anthony Norris Groves. Their stories in an atheistic worldview make absolutely no sense because these should have been the first people to die off if God was not real. That these men thrived shows that God is real in a very hard to refute way.
Bottom line is that God is a good Heavenly Father despite how things may seem in our fallen cursed world. God loves you and wants you to know Him just like He loves your foster child that was ripped from you and is just as much pursuing her as He is you.

You have raised deep concerns and hard points to deal with however and these cannot be simply answered. I do not pretend that I am not also confused by how God works sometimes. First thank you for the somewhat measured response. It is obvious that you are dealing with a lot of pain in your life and I understand that that’s difficult. Yet you were measured in your response and it’s easy to lose one’s cool when talking about such painful subjects.
For starters let me say that I think you may be misinterpreting some of what I am saying. My main point in this thread is that hate, just like any sin, is a shackle. The only thing the Bible instructs us to hate it evil. But it does not say “hate who is evil” but “hate WHAT is evil” (Romans 12:9) This means to hate evil itself and evil is something i abhor. That does not mean we should hate the people who execute and do this evil. In many ways they are to be pitied because they have committed themselves to such an utterly selfish, worldly, satanic life that their lot on judgment day will be utter hell. Satan has warped and twisted their minds to execute evil agendas and they are trapped in their sin. That is a sad state for anyone.
Anyway, my primary point is that if you commit yourself to hatred of a person you will eventually lose yourself in the hatred and find that you have likely become the monster that you were fighting against. Hate is a poison. The only time it’s not a poison is when we hate things that are worth hating, such as sin and evil. God after all hates sin and that stems from his goodness.
Secondly I would ask you where in my thread I have said anything about “doing nothing”. I have spent much time in prayer (frankly I should be spending far more than I am) because COVID drove me to my knees. I realized that I was likely going to lose my job and possibly home. By Gods grace that hasn’t happened yet but I don’t expect my job to survive another round of mandates and lockdowns. If that happens again I don’t see how I will keep my job or provide for my family. That doesn’t happen if one is “doing nothing”. I refuse to be vaccinated with a poison or help to advance this evil agenda through submission to it. I feel very strongly that God does not want me to do those things and so I will rely on Him to help me not do them. My flesh wants to cave quite often on masking for instance because it seemed so benign at first, but then I realize what it symbolizes and how God is displeased with the bowing of the knee to things other than Himself. Sadly i did bow that knee in part for bit (by wearing a mask at work for a while) which I believe now to have been sin on my part, but I no longer intend to do so. Another thing to keep in mind is that (again this depends on how we answer what is true reality) working to change people’s hearts is the furthest thing from the definition of “doing nothing”. The problems and evil you are describing exist because people focus on themselves and not God. Even the examples from church history you may cite (and I admit they are many, the church as an institution is extremely flawed which is why I myself put no faith in it whatsoever), those same problems exist only because people lose sight of their professed savior (or only pretended and never had any faith to begin with).
And yes the base texts of the Bible is a centuries old debate. You act as though because there’s some corruption we should give up on the whole enterprise of pursuing God at all, which will in fact be the most fatal mistake of your life. But let me ask you, you yourself have admitted that your fight against corruption is potentially ultimately fruitless as it will be a battle you fight endlessly. Whatever human government you establish in your fight for freedom will ultimately have the problem of not changing men’s hearts which is the real problem and thus evil will always exist. Yet for some reason you won’t give up on that endeavor? That doesn’t seem consistent to me. Sharing the gospel, getting people to actually encounter Jesus (not simply “gain converts” to increase some pastors numbers, but real heart change where people become new creations is what I’m talking about).
The methods of fighting this evil are simply different. Wouldn’t you agree that to fight this evil we must first a) identify the root of it, b) understand the true nature of reality? This is why we must carefully ask ourselves if what the Bible says is true. If it is that changes how we should respond. If in fact it is not Fauci or the technocratic, freemasonic, Jesuit elites who are the real enemies but something else then that means we must respond differently. “For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
That was a lot of text, but I'll reiterate, the promise of a next world is a story told over 2,000 years of history, often by the corrupt, whereas this world is right here, right now.

You are right that our goals are different. Look, I've got nothing against religious folks. Used to believe with all my heart, and spent most of my time getting beat down for it. Usually metaphorically, sometimes literally. Atheism certainly has no appeal to me.
But religious people who just say "believe in God" or whatever are overlooking a few practical matters.
First, if all of the good people just sit back and pray, then any possible solution to the problems on earth can only ever be implemented by the non-devout. And I sincerely doubt any of them are aiming for holy goodness. You're leaving your fate -- and mine -- in the hands of bad actors, by being passive. I take great issue with this, as I cannot imagine God wanting me to stand by while many suffer. So I choose to fight, however futile it may be. I'll let divine judgment sort that out later, if it even comes to that.
Second, yes, I went to Sunday school until I was 13. I've read the Revelation. But as my lapsed Catholic father pointed out, mankind is corrupt, and therefore all of the spiritual texts - and institutions - have been subject to 2,000 years of man's earthly corruption. Pardon me if I'm skeptical that the scribes were entirely honest, especially once the printing press was invented. We've just spent three years of watching powerful authority figures blatantly lie to us. The church isn't immune, either; a quick primer on its history, in both the recent and distant past, will bear that out.
Third, Christianity has usually been tolerated because of its passivity and the misinterpretation that it's pro-forced-socialism. In recent years, when the powerful could not eliminate it for their agenda, they began to corrupt it from within, as they do with all things.
If there is a God then it's been millenia of suffering, strife, and hardship, often on innocent people. Just days ago, children were burned alive alone in their homes in Hawaii because of the callous indifference and incompetence of those I choose to stand against in this world. If you want to head to a Judgment Day and show up and say that you basically did NOTHING against the evil of the world, other than pray for some miracle to fix it, I suppose that is your business, and I will respect your right to make your own decisions. But that is not /my/ way.
I can overlook all of the romantic heartbreak of my youth knowing that at least it led me to ultimately marry the right person. Almost none of those other potential/failed relationships would have survived the Covid years (literally, I can only think of one that even would have had a CHANCE). But I cannot imagine what possible reason a good and just God would inflict years of mandates, suffering, strife, and medical damage, upon both myself and others. Tell me why your God sent our foster child of many years back to her abusive, manipulative, junkie criminal mother, who cut off all contact after promising not to. After we bent over backwards to be inclusive and kind to a vile phony of a woman who in my heart I probably KNEW did not deserve it, and received constant compliments of being a model home. Literally I can't even give her the rest of her toys that we weren't able to pack, or a note the two girls she used to play with made for her. Five years old and I don't think she even understood. NO. I have no forgiveness or mercy for forces like that in the world. We can't even have our own. And according to you, that's what your God did. He took someone I loved and has been bringing nothing but strife into our lives. Everything's been going wrong for months on end ever since then, and even the mere threat of new mandates is the last f**king straw. I am done being nice to the monsters of this world. Maybe instead of useless thoughts and words, we should all forge ourselves into instruments that shape a better world.
If I were to literally believe in anything biblical, I'd most likely postulate that the rapture already happened, and the rest of us were left behind for the thousand years of tribulation. It's the most likely explanation I can think of in line with the theology that I know.
I will leave with a darker thought: after watching Oppenheimer (spoilers ahead!), there's a couple blink-and-you'll-miss-it points in the movie. One is when all the scientists gather to imagine what splitting the atom means. They ultimately conclude a bomb, and that means that any group with the intelligence to do the math, plus the resources to refine uranium, can ultimately destroy the world. If I can conclude this, so did the wealthy and powerful, who have, steadily since the 1950's, worked to diminish the average human's intelligence, independence, and ability, and to take control of as many natural resources and as much economic production as possible.
The second is when the movie's villain, Strauss, points out that power exists in the shadows. He was implied to be "wrong" for this by the movie's narrative, but the "refutation" was the junior senator from Massachusetts, JFK, voting against him. At the time, out of context, that may seem like a victory for disinfecting sunlight, but... remind me again about JFK's ultimate fate? Oh, right: the shadow puppeteers took him out, and it's been a straight line (specifically, a steeply declining slippery slope) from there to here.
I say the only way to make that better is to fight back. Even if, as Trevor says, we'll apparently be fighting forever -- a better world is still worth fighting for. I don't know why anyone would ever expect a heavenly reward for sitting back and fixing nothing. And I don't expect one for doing something, either. It's just the right thing to do.

To use an analogy, let’s say that you happen to live in New York City and for whatever reason you have inside intelligence that nuclear weapons are imminently en route to New York but for whatever reason you are the only one who knows this information. Wouldn’t your instinct be to warn people to evacuate and leave as quickly as possible? Or would your instinct be to run for mayor and gain a position of power in the hopes you could change the result? The analogy may seem ridiculous but in my mind that’s what we are doing by trying to change this world in any way from the top down. It just won’t work.
I am truly sorry that you have experienced such trauma in your life. But you are speaking to someone who has experienced trauma himself. When I was 4 years old I had leukemia and spent two years with an extremely weak immune system, unable to interact with other children, make friends, multiple weeks on end in the hospital, nearly dying. When they discovered my cancer 80% of my blood was cancerous and 30% of my bone marrow was cancerous. By Gods grace I was saved due to His provision and good doctors. That’s not the case for many pediatric cancer patients.
Why is that? I don’t know.
Is it hard for me to comprehend? Yes.
But I am also not God and place myself in the position to judge God or His goodness is quite presumptuous. From our perspective evil, trauma and suffering seem unreasonable. Evil is something God hates too. But evil is also not Gods fault, it’s ours. We permitted it, and its consequences (“the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23) fall on us. We made this choice. Whenever we sin we show that we love evil more than good. (John 3:19 “This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.”) This is part of the curse. It’s horrible and awful. But it’s also temporary. Eventually God will judge between the righteous and the wicked. The wicked will be doomed to be forever separate from God, the source of life, and be condemned to eternal death. When all is set right, for those who are in Christ, who love Him and are redeemed by Him, and the world is made new, all of our pain and suffering will be but a passing memory. (2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;”)
I don’t know why God allowed what happened to your beloved foster child. I hate that the foster care system rips kids from good homes and puts them into the hands of their abusive parents who care little for them. It’s a story I’ve heard far too often (And one time is too often IMO). I can’t see the whole picture but God can. He sees the end from the beginning and when you get to judgement day you will see that there will be no charge that you can level against Him that will stick. He is perfect.
As an illustration, I know of a man who lost both his legs fighting in the military. It bound him to a wheelchair for life. He could’ve been angry at God for letting it happen, he was disabled and crippled for the rest of his life, but he wasn’t angry. This man had a conversation with a bitter atheist one time who asked him “How can you worship a God who did this to you? He left you crippled for life and you praise Him?” (I’m paraphrasing it was something like that) The crippled man’s response essentially was “well, that’s why you started talking to me wasn’t it? Because I lost my legs? That’s what prompted you to talk to me. And that gave me an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with you.”

If you are unfamiliar with his story I’ll give his life story in brief here. Muller came from a wealthy background and lived the spoiled prince type life for quite some time. He enjoyed all that the world had to offer and quite liked it. Eventually in his twenties he had an encounter with Jesus that caused him to completely transform. He ended up being disinherited by his father (for his faith if I remember correctly) and took a pastors job at a church in England. Eventually however he grew to be disgusted with the corruption of the church he was a part of. They would take pew rentals as a form donation to the church which would guarantee a better seat for those with more wealth. Muller viewed this as a direct violation of Scripture and disavowed all payment from
the church. This left him without an income. He began a practice of confiding in God alone for all his needs. He would not inform anyone of their financial or material needs. He believed the promise of Scripture that God provides for our every need as a Heavenly Father and if we but trust Him to provide while doing His work, He will do so. Financial resources began to pour in as he needed them. It was never more than he needed, but precisely what he needed at the time. Sometimes down to the minute. He eventually believed that God wanted him to start an orphanage without financial backing of any sort as a step of faith in Bristol. He continued this same practice, and every single one of his volunteers at the orphanage did the same thing. Muller and his team strictly enforced secrecy of their financial needs. They did not tell anyone outside of the orphanage about their needs and trusted God would provide. Their needs were met every single time, without fail. He and his volunteers sometimes went without luxuries, but the children were never without anything that they needed. He built an entire orphan house that housed over 8000 orphans (I can’t remember the exact number right now) over the course of its existence. Eventually people who knew what Müller was doing encouraged him to write a book to show how God had been faithful to the work he called them to. This is what is written down in “The Autobiography of George Müller”. Parts of the book read like an accounting record as he details God’s faithfulness and it is absolutely amazing. His story is similar to others such as Hudson Taylor and Anthony Norris Groves. Their stories in an atheistic worldview make absolutely no sense because these should have been the first people to die off if God was not real. That these men thrived shows that God is real in a very hard to refute way.
Bottom line is that God is a good Heavenly Father despite how things may seem in our fallen cursed world. God loves you and wants you to know Him just like He loves your foster child that was ripped from you and is just as much pursuing her as He is you.

You have raised deep concerns and hard points to deal with however and these cannot be simply answered. I do not pretend that I am not also confused by how God works sometimes. First thank you for the somewhat measured response. It is obvious that you are dealing with a lot of pain in your life and I understand that that’s difficult. Yet you were measured in your response and it’s easy to lose one’s cool when talking about such painful subjects.
For starters let me say that I think you may be misinterpreting some of what I am saying. My main point in this thread is that hate, just like any sin, is a shackle. The only thing the Bible instructs us to hate it evil. But it does not say “hate who is evil” but “hate WHAT is evil” (Romans 12:9) This means to hate evil itself and evil is something i abhor. That does not mean we should hate the people who execute and do this evil. In many ways they are to be pitied because they have committed themselves to such an utterly selfish, worldly, satanic life that their lot on judgment day will be utter hell. Satan has warped and twisted their minds to execute evil agendas and they are trapped in their sin. That is a sad state for anyone.
Anyway, my primary point is that if you commit yourself to hatred of a person you will eventually lose yourself in the hatred and find that you have likely become the monster that you were fighting against. Hate is a poison. The only time it’s not a poison is when we hate things that are worth hating, such as sin and evil. God after all hates sin and that stems from his goodness.
Secondly I would ask you where in my thread I have said anything about “doing nothing”. I have spent much time in prayer (frankly I should be spending far more than I am) because COVID drove me to my knees. I realized that I was likely going to lose my job and possibly home. By Gods grace that hasn’t happened yet but I don’t expect my job to survive another round of mandates and lockdowns. If that happens again I don’t see how I will keep my job or provide for my family. That doesn’t happen if one is “doing nothing”. I refuse to be vaccinated with a poison or help to advance this evil agenda through submission to it. I feel very strongly that God does not want me to do those things and so I will rely on Him to help me not do them. My flesh wants to cave quite often on masking for instance because it seemed so benign at first, but then I realize what it symbolizes and how God is displeased with the bowing of the knee to things other than Himself. Sadly i did bow that knee in part for bit (by wearing a mask at work for a while) which I believe now to have been sin on my part, but I no longer intend to do so. Another thing to keep in mind is that (again this depends on how we answer what is true reality) working to change people’s hearts is the furthest thing from the definition of “doing nothing”. The problems and evil you are describing exist because people focus on themselves and not God. Even the examples from church history you may cite (and I admit they are many, the church as an institution is extremely flawed which is why I myself put no faith in it whatsoever), those same problems exist only because people lose sight of their professed savior (or only pretended and never had any faith to begin with).
And yes the base texts of the Bible is a centuries old debate. You act as though because there’s some corruption we should give up on the whole enterprise of pursuing God at all, which will in fact be the most fatal mistake of your life. But let me ask you, you yourself have admitted that your fight against corruption is potentially ultimately fruitless as it will be a battle you fight endlessly. Whatever human government you establish in your fight for freedom will ultimately have the problem of not changing men’s hearts which is the real problem and thus evil will always exist. Yet for some reason you won’t give up on that endeavor? That doesn’t seem consistent to me. Sharing the gospel, getting people to actually encounter Jesus (not simply “gain converts” to increase some pastors numbers, but real heart change where people become new creations is what I’m talking about).
The methods of fighting this evil are simply different. Wouldn’t you agree that to fight this evil we must first a) identify the root of it, b) understand the true nature of reality? This is why we must carefully ask ourselves if what the Bible says is true. If it is that changes how we should respond. If in fact it is not Fauci or the technocratic, freemasonic, Jesuit elites who are the real enemies but something else then that means we must respond differently. “For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
That was a lot of text, but I'll reiterate, the promise of a next world is a story told over 2,000 years of history, often by the corrupt, whereas this world is right here, right now.
I choose to fight for this one and its people. Not for any reward, but because it's the right thing to do.
I'm not particularly optimistic about that, but I'll try anyway.
If I remember anything from Sunday school, I believe the first four books of the New Testament heavily focus on a carpenter who instructs people to give aid and comfort to others, especially those who cannot help themselves.
