That was a lot of text, but I'll reiterate, the promise of a next world is a story told over 2,000 years of history, often by the corrupt, whereas this world is right here, right now.

I choose to fight for this one and its people. Not for any reward, but because it's the right thing to do.

I'm not particularly optimistic about that, but I'll try anyway.

If I remember anything from Sunday school, I believe the first four books of the New Testament heavily focus on a carpenter who instructs people to give aid and comfort to others, especially those who cannot help themselves.

I appreciate your concern but after our placement was not only sent back but cut off from us by an abusive, backstabbing junkie, and the system that is ostensibly meant to protect defenseless children just DNGAF... yeah, I'm not so much seeing some higher purpose there. I'm seeing the entropy of a cold and uncaring universe.

Thank you for taking the time to read it. Please also take the time to reconsider your perceptions. I have reassessed my own beliefs several times. It is tempting to simply give up on the next world and focus on the now. But again this goes back to what is really true. Please don’t generalize and throw out the baby with the bath water. If someone who was corrupt said the sky was blue, I doubt you would dismiss it just because they were corrupt. Certainly don’t trust the corrupt and don’t let mankind’s corruption and love for sin mean you miss God in the process. If you reject something just because someone who was corrupt said it you are committing the genetic fallacy. Even if Satan himself said “two and two make four”, that’s still a true statement, even if it comes from the father of lies. What’s true is true, regardless of who says it.

Also I hope you can see your comment is littered with inconsistencies. If there really is a cold and uncaring universe instead of God then there is no right or wrong at all, “Everything is permitted”. What you are choosing to do is not “the right thing to do” because there is no such thing if God is not real. It is simply your preference, no different than someone preferring chocolate or vanilla ice cream. You may not know it, but you’ve committed yourself to a philosophy that leads to nihilism. You will find no meaning at the end of this path you are on. You will instead find cold pointless indifference, regardless of if you happen to make this world “better” as you say. In your worldview, even if you happen to make the world a better place the heat death of the universe will eventually destroy everything and you will be left with nothing anyway. The tyrants ruling or the “good people” ruling result in the same end. Suppose you happen to make utopia on earth and everyone is happy and all the tyrants are banished the universe itself will destroy what you have built in the end and we become dust and particles adrift with no consciousness. The tyrants ruling and enslaving everyone will lead to the same end. The only hope is this carpenter from Nazareth you speak of. That carpenter not only told us to love our neighbor as ourselves and to help people, his primary message was that the kingdom of God is at hand, that mankind must repent, and that we are to love God first and foremost, even before we love our neighbor. Please don’t quote the carpenter you speak of out of context. His context was love for God permeating everything we do. Your worldview rejects His primary commands.

In my view you are stating the mantra of atheism “There is no God, and I hate Him.” How does that make any sense at all? Do you really think that you have such a monopoly on understanding reality that there’s no possibility at all that there could’ve been other reasons for what happened? Please think about these things, your soul and the souls of everyone you love are at stake.

Blessings to you Steve and I hope you find love for God again. You are always welcome to message me at the links provided.

Tim
