I cannot understand why people seem to WANT to live in fear! If you're forced (esp. by your job) or peer pressured to do it, I get it. Even if they don't agree, most people will "go along to get along." Life is already stressful. Most people don't want to add to it. Fine. I can understand that.

But when nobody is forcing or pressuring you, when you are outside and not near anyone, when you are ENTIRELY ALONE IN YOUR CAR, what possible health benefit do people think they are achieving?!
I wish I was an outgoing person so I could ask people directly. I really would love to hear their answers. I keep trying to understand it and the longer this goes on, the less I do.
I left NYS because I was surrounded by exactly what you describe: a rigid, unswerving disdain for anything that challenges the accepted narrative. Here in FL, it's a totally different vibe.
