It is my understanding in reviewing of archaeological & historical records including Josephus, Philo and others that the actual entomological title “Palestine” was created by Roman Emperor Titus and his Generals. They had carried out a brutal siege and destruction of Jerusalem and the 2nd Temple in 70 AD (CE). Over a million Jews mostly all civilian including the hideous brutal murder of pregnant women & children. After this attempted genocide the Romans hated the Jews so much that Emperor Titus wanted to terminally desecrate the Jews perpetuity and thus renamed this geographical area after the arch enemies of the Jews - the Philistines. The Philistians had long since been completely destroyed as a people’s & nation. The Latin translation of Philistia was Palestine. As well described in this publication above, multiple different ill-defined peoples did live in this region including the Amonoites (Modern day northern Jordan), Moabites (modern day central Jordan) and Idumeans (modern day southern Jordan.

The publication of “Innocents Abroad”

by Samuel Clemons (Mark Twain) who was neither a Jew or a Christian but likely an agnostic, described his observations of “Palestine” in 1869. There was NOBODY in “Palestine” and he described it as a God forsaken wasteland that was uninhabitable. This is consistent with multiple major & minor prophets (17) in the Torah / Old Testament where it is repeatedly prophesied that the land would never flourish until the Jews returned. Read it. It has been literally fulfilled like thousands of other prophecies in the Judaeo-Christian scriptures.

An important question that all should ask is why every generation since creation of man has had an evil preoccupation with to eliminating the Jews and wipe them off the face the earth. No other people/nation come any where close to the Jews in this regard. The Hamans, Titus, Hitlers & Iranian Mullahs have recurred in every generation of human history. Why?

There is a simple answer to this question but it cannot be answered without a complete understanding of the spiritual realm that is very clearly and firmly established in the Torah / Old Testament.

I can't take seriously a narrative of "the roots of Palestinian identity, free from any false or propagandistic fodder" that completely omits any of the well-documented historical facts of the 1948 Nakba.

It doesn't matter what these people called themselves or what their national aspirations were. That's just obfuscating criminal conduct and human suffering. They were there, and they were murdered en masse, and forcibly evicted from their generational homes. Women and children! Noncombatants.

Honest Israelis, common people, acknowledge this festering wound at the center of their own national identity. You'd do well to listen to them and take another step back from the propaganda machine.
