As I seem to recall, Hitler's generals tried to assassinate him multiple times.

Ridiculous. No Nazi general ever got as fat as Milley.

They are desperate- both because Kamala is imploding and also to prove that they are still relevant. Do they really believe that Trump, voters and potential Trump voters will be influenced by an article sourced anonymously?

Expand full comment

At this point, the story isn’t discredited due to the anonymous sources, it’s discredited because appears in The Atlantic….a known propaganda outlet for the US Democratic Party

Expand full comment

It’s truly embarrassing how insanely partisan they’ve gotten. It’s almost like the billionaire owner has a desperate need to keep the current regime in power.

Expand full comment

Is The Democratic Party calling in all their "chips" right now to maintain power? From actors, singers, "journalists", comedians, speech writers, former employees and staff, politicians..., there is so much noxious talk, it makes one wonder.

And now, after the election, we find out that Kamala spent more than $1 billion on her campaign. And much of that appears to have gone to celebrity endorsements…..

Expand full comment

And that money was spent in about three months. Astounding. Isn't is interesting that she had to pay for celebrity endorsements and appearances, while i suspect that most of Trump's were people who donated their time?

I love your calm, cool demeanor. Your certainty of who's in charge. Unlike myself, who was about to burst a vein when I read this, this morning, while simultaneously watching that pedophile tampon tim walz having the audacity to make fun of Elon Musk "dancing around on stage like a dipshit". The fucking nerve. And then I read this article and I could feel the vein throbbing in my neck. Thank God I found this cool stream of reason. You're so right. They're going down and they know it. It's just their death throes. I'm much better now, thank you!

My initial reaction to this was the same, not knowing much about the military persons spoken of in the article, or Trump's former life or education. However, reading comments here has helped. I also just saw a comment from the sister of the soldier referred to in the article who was killed and she's angry that this article was written and their story was used to bash Trump.

I've never been a Trump fan (he's the "lesser evil" choice and I swore this time I wouldn't again). I keep reminding myself of one true thing I know, Jesus Christ controls history. I've been taught this for years. On Saturday, July 13th when I saw the bullet not go into Trump's brain when it should have, I decided I was voting for him, because God had protected him to be our President. There was no other explanation. Based on my knowledge of the venue, the security (or lack thereof), the range, the type of rifle used, the opportunity, the man should be dead. For me that was the clear message that he had a purpose, I had a vote, and I knew Harris wasn't getting it.

So Trump it is. The rest is up to God and Christ will handle the details.

I love your reasoning. This is not a personality contest. Many great leaders were not necessarily nice guys. Keep the faith. Thanks for responding. 💟🙏👍🇺🇸💟

Godwin's Law Corollary: as a candidate grows desperate with her campaign, the more likely fascism and Hitler to be mentioned in relation to her opponent.

Hitler's Generals? Trump is too good a student of history to have used this analogy. There are at least 3 documented cases where Hitler's Generals attempted to kill him and make peace with the allies. Goldberg is not only a nasty journo but is as stupid as they come. Anyone who takes this seriously has TDS anyway. I expect Lizzo will be shouting this from the rooftop, although her own father was likened to Hitler on more occasions than Trump.

As TDS-addled as he is, I don't think Goldberg honestly thinks that this article will make any Trump-Vance supporter change their mind.

At this point he is just striking out in true deranged democrat fashion in an attempt to soothe his emotional turmoil.

Expand full comment

It soothes his audience, who need to believe that they are better people than the rabble they despise. This isn’t a left right divide but a top bottom one. The moral and intellectual superiority of the Atlantic denizens has given them the right to rule, and license to break and norm they please to keep on doing so. This is the underlying logic of the American aristocracy and their courtiers.

It may not be a popular thing to say, but an auto-coup led by Kammie against our Constitution is their next option. They are that stupid and that arrogant.

Expand full comment

They will go after the Electoral College. Hopefully, there will be enough votes one way or the other to make it very clear which candidate gets each state's votes, as the popular vote won't mean a wit.

HRC tried that. It didn’t work. Kammie is surrounded by people telling her that everyone who matters want her elected and if she allows Trump to be elected, it would be her fault.

Harris is clearly not in charge of any decision making. She, like Biden, is only a pawn, whether it's because the main players have been used up or don't want to be held accountable if things go wrong. Harris was a big mistake for choice of VP but they wanted someone easy to control, I just don't think they realized how vapid she really was. I believe the Dems next choice will be Newsom as he's fully onboard with their values, goals, and is a player. I have days where watching the game from afar is fascinating, and others where I'm furiously righteous wanting to avenge all who had done so much to build such an incredible nation for me to grow up in.

This is almost as desperate a campaign action as trotting out Liz Cheney to a Michigan voter “Town Hall” in which questions for Kamala will not be asked by the voter:attendees - but have been prepared in advance by the campaign staff and consultants. Neither the phony town hall or the phony Hitler loving hit piece by Goldberg will cause undecideds or Trump supporters to be influenced away from Trump and toward the cardboard cutout candidate.

Isn't it amazing that the owners of these magazines, papers and television products are allowing the debasement of them and thereby destroying their future value? The Atlantic, much like Time and Newsweek, will forever be haunted by this malpractice. It reminds me of doctors who are mutilating children. Their long-term reputations, and possibly their monetary worth, will certainly be destroyed.

Expand full comment

This comes as no surprise to anyone. The anti-Trump movement keeps pushing the same old narratives just presented in new wrappings. No one pays any attention to this nonsense anymore. More of the same old lies.

Ah, the Atlantic, paragon of journalistic integrity. Let not forget “The COVID-19 coverage in The Atlantic magazine was supported by grants from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This funding was disclosed in several articles published by The Atlantic itself, indicating that their coverage on the topic was indeed backed financially by these entities.”

The Robert Wood Johnson foundation was initially funded with Johnson & Johnson stock, and undoubtedly remains heavily invested in the pharmaceutical industry.

Facebook/Meta, like other social media companies, financially thrived during the COVID lockdowns, which were often pushed on the pages of the Atlantic.

It's a kind of historic irony (or irony in history, perhaps is better in English?) that a man named Goldberg accuses someone of quoting Hitler, when the side Goldberg is on, is the one copying Hitler's policies, with one or two exceptions. Is the following excerpt applicable to the Obama and Biden/Harris presidencies, you think?

"The American president increasingly used his influence to create conflicts, intensify existing conflicts, and, above all, to keep conflicts from being resolved peacefully. For years this man looked for a dispute anywhere in the world, but preferably in Europe, that he could use to create political entanglements with American economic obligations to one of the contending sides, which would then steadily involve America in the conflict and thus divert attention from his own confused domestic economic policies."

I think you can guess who I'm quoting.

Expand full comment

Absolutely. They blame the conservatives for planning what their policies were actually doing. That's the thing that frustrates and angers me the most with the people I grew up with in California and knew my intense study of European history, especially WWII and the Holocaust. One's mother was a young teen in Leipzig. I remember a few times when she talked about living there before and during the war, and her great hesitancy to talk about the work camps near the city. Now in her 90s, she and my friend only have praise for Germany and how much greater the nation is than the US, and what a fascist nazi Trump is, that he is just like the dictator she remembers. It stuns me they don't see how Obama, Clinton, Kerry, the WEF, Davos, Biden and Harris during COVID were actually implementing unconstitutional dictitorial policies against our own citizens and still are.

I just copied and pasted your TLDR to 100 enraged posters on The Atlantic’s Instagram post. THIS is how the media trades their credibility for short-term influence… but their balance is already in arrears. We’re watching the collapse of a 100-year old institution in real time

The Atlantic is in a hackery class by itself. If anyone looks back on this era of peak American propaganda will find the most amusing examples there. But that’s probably cope on my part because I enjoy long form non-fiction and now both the Atlantic and the New Yorker are unreadable. But Substack has taken up the slack so all is not lost.
