No homeless, everyone fed, one of the best medical systems in the world, very little crime and no organized crime, great education system with access for all, and NO globalist corporations wedded to government. Oh, and vaccines that aren't killing people.

Oh, and all this despite decades of blockades and sanctions by the US. Despite that they constantly generously help their neighbors and lots of countries around the world, with no strings attached.

I'm confused. Then why did hundreds of thousands of Castro's citizens risk their very lives in small boats over the ocean trying to escape for all those years? Miami is full of those people now. And they hate Castro to this day!

I believe I addressed that. The people who fled Cuba were the upper class who feared that their money and property would be seized under a socialist government. It included a huge number of organized crime families which had thrived under Batista (Havana was a big global gambling center with many casinos) and a large number of former plantation owners and their families. Of course they hate Castro--he was doing away with elite classes who liked things just the way they had been, with a very wealthy class and a very poverty stricken lower class who served them. The situation they had in Cuba then is analogous to the situation in the US now, with more and more money going to elites and less and less to the lower classes. 40% of the US lives on $30,000 a year or less. The pandemic has only made that situation worse. Trudeau and Biden are the new corporatist dictators of our own age. Bezos and his ilk are the new plantation owners. Please don't think I'm saying Cuba is some sort of utopia or that Castro was some kind of saint--of course not. All governments are corrupt in numerous ways, and revolutions are always ugly. All I said was that Castro did some great things for Cuba when all was said and done, and Trudeau has done nothing great for Canada.

Oh good grief, Scott. My data is a lifetime of reading about countries around the world. I can't help it if you haven't done that. Have you ever been to Cuba? Everyone who goes there loves it. Do you see a lot of defectors? The people who fled to Miami and have lived there since the 1950s are the descendants of the wealthy crime families and plantation owners who were making out like bandits under the Batista dictatorship. They left because they knew that Castro would not allow that kind of stratified elitist society. The very things we are experiencing now with the corporate capture of the US government are the things that DON'T happen when the indigenous population rises up and forms a socialist government. What we are seeing right now in the US is unrestrained predatory capitalism. You and I share our libertarianism, but libertarianism does not have to be right wing. If it socialism arises bottom up, as in Ecuador and Cuba, it can be consistent with civil rights.

Everyone loves it but the gusanos who risk their lives to leave, and sometimes are murdered trying to leave. You should talk to a survivor sometime, you'll learn a lot.

Wow, TONS of stuff came up immediately about Cuba's great doctors and health care system. Even those who were trying to criticize it ending up saying how fab it was. BTW, Cuba has more doctors per capita than any other nation on earth, and their main medical school is one of the most respected in the world. But this should tell you something: https://theculturetrip.com/caribbean/cuba/articles/why-cuba-has-the-best-doctors-in-the-world/

Oh look, another two seconds led me to this: zero homelessness in Cuba except for problems caused by the US embargo and sanctions: https://borgenproject.org/homelessness-in-cuba/#:~:text=Cuba%20currently%20enjoys%20a%20near-zero%20rate%20of%20homelessness.,extended%20and%20nuclear%20family%20all%20share%20one%20residency. This isn't hard, Scott. See what you can find out if you are remotely curious?

Well, Scott, I decided to see how long it would take me to find out something about one aspect of Cuba's improvement. I almost immediately found this, which amused me because Novak Djokovic is of course one of our current civil liberties heroes, and here he is talking up Cuba's great educational system through his foundation. https://novakdjokovicfoundation.org/education-system-of-cuba-path-to-success/

It is easy to ask for proof of something that would take a whole library of books to respond to. What is it that YOU think Cuba is like? What books have you read on the subject? Have you been there and seen for yourself? These are not hidden or secret things. For example, it is just a fact that Castro raised Cuban literacy from very low to higher than the literacy rate in America in just a couple of generations. The same thing happened in Venezuela under Chavez. It is just a fact that there is no homelessness in either country. In fact, several journalists who went down to VZ to report when Trump was doing his damnedest to overthrow Maduro remarked that when they returned to NY it was a jolt to see people eating out of dumpsters here. They had seen nothing like that in Caracas. It is always amazing to me that both Democrats and Republicans are perfectly willing to castigate the media for dishonesty for some part of the government narrative, but not all of it. Democrats see some things as dishonest, and Republicans see other things as dishonest, but neither seem to realize that it's ALL lies. You literally cannot read or watch a corporate news source in America and believe ANYthing that is said to you. The CIA vowed to completely control the media in the 1980s, and they have succeeded. I want you to consider how much your impressions about Cuba have been shaped by the media, and how much of it has been shaped by what YOU YOURSELF know.

This is factually correct Scott. Just like all other aspects of history you have learned everything you have heard about Castro from the US media and "educational" system is complete nonsense.

You should look into more.
