you are probably correct. they do not fear covid the way the west does because they know most of the fatalities are among the obese, which is a very small portion of their population .
I think it's real -- and I think folks will have a hard time understanding the Chinese mindset. Authoritarians making a promise that a.) I lived in HK for 4 years. The collective consciousness of China is disgusting. They don’t care about human or animal life. They care about money, appearances and control.
It is possible that they actually believe the lockdown tripe. I have noticed that there is a division between people of faith and people without faith on the issue of Covid. It's not a division without a number of outliers, but generally it holds. People without faith are scared to distraction and illogic. This includes many "leaders" throughout the world. That's not to say there isn't a psyop in play as well, or at least a willingness to use a crisis.

I watch a lot of news about and from China. They have two issues that cause idiotic reactions to big problems. One is the fact that they are trained from infants to follow orders and don't think for themselves. The other is the CCP cannot be wrong in any decisions they have made. So you get this idiotic mess of doing the same thing no matter if it works or not. It's insanity and I can't imagine living through the hell they are right now. When the floods happened last year the people running the tolls for the underground tunnels kept collecting until the flood waters reached them. They can't think for themselves even when innocent lives are at stake. The government in China will hide their mistakes no matter what.
The thought has crossed my mind, but the studies do not indicate this. Anyhow, the devastation caused by ineffective lockdowns is only justified by a massive unseen danger (that they see). More likely, the CCP has found lockdowns to be very helpful in putting down the dissenters and outright civil wars that the CCP has had to deal with in recent years. A second term Trump administration would have probably meant the end of the CCP...they were that close to implosion. They may not dodge the bullet even now.
I wonder about this sort of thing, too. Could it be that leaders in China take studies that document brain and nerve damage from Covid _very seriously_?
Could it be that leaders in China are convinced that contracting Covid 19 usually damages the brain, even in people who are vaccinated and treated aggressively with various protocols, monoclonal antibodies, Paxlovid, etc?
