The formula never changes: declare catastrophe, insult the public’s judgment, demand a new bureaucracy, praise Beijing, punish innovation, and call submission “preparedness.” AI has risks, but it also promises medical breakthroughs, cheaper legal help, better diagnostics, smarter farming, wider education, and tools regular people could never afford before. Gates looks at that explosion of possibility and sees another chance to install managers over it. No thanks. The COVID aristocrats already wrecked enough lives. They do not get custody of the future because they bought a microphone and learned new panic words.
I’m just curious to see if this will get any legs. We all know Gates is powerful as we saw during Covid, but curious if his power still reigns supreme.
He’s taken a hit since the divorce and Epstein connections, so this could be nothing… but this is something to take note off and if any actually policies or laws …from our “representatives” comfort.
Apparently Gates of Hell Bill is behind in the AI race and needs Uncle Sam to give him some leverage. Either that, or Billy Man Boobs knows that since he is universally reviled, if he suggests this everyone will immediately refuse it and then government WON’T step in and ban AI and that’s what he actually wants…🤔. Either way, I remain convinced the world is better off if he could be exported to another planet.
Gates not only paid no price, he openly gloated about how much money he made from the very profitable vaccines! He made much more off vaccines than Microsoft. The guy is a monster.
I would never listen to Gates. The only thing Gates is about his himself and his wealth. Gates stole everything that became parts of windows he was ruthless in requiring every computer manufacturer to pre install Microsoft crap to get access to windows as the operating system. The regulators were asleep or bought off as usual. There are only two ways to the wealth of Gates it’s either illegal or immoral Gates took both paths. He is worried that the current folks in charge of these AI companies will destroy his legacy of Microsoft (we can only hope). Now that I have trashed Gates I have no love for those running the AI companies they are all immoral as well and we will roe the day we allowed them to dominate our lives.
While I generally despise the four-eyed pedo, this essay gives me pause. Indeed, AI may be the 2026 pandemic, or it may lead humanity to its next logical step in evolution - namely, returning future generations to a life of mindless hedonism or it might turn Homo Sapiens into the legendary Eloi of H.G. Wells' imagination.
Already, we are seeing a large chunk of humanity deciding that thinking is too hard and it is best to let AI answer all our questions about life, politics, and history.
Social Media, of course, has a big role into turning us into mindless cattle. I recently read that the average American spends 99 minutes per day. So YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram can be included with the electronic toys that are turning our brains to jelly.
Let us not forget that Bill Gates is an alarmist and that even his wife couldn't take it anymore, but let us also bear in mind that "AI" is somewhat of a scam, too. It is like the old chess playing machine the Turk, there is often a wizard behind a curtain, for example when a Waymo taxi doesn't know what to do, it asks a kid in the Philippines with an xBox or Commodore 64 to help it out, and that kid makes minimum wage. What a revolution.
Follow Bill's $$. AI is leaving MS in the dust. Bill wants time to catch up. And the power to declare slop enrollments an existential necessity for all Americans.
Gates (and the CCP) aside, the industry needs to do something to answer the grass roots opposition to data centers. If I understand the tech correctly, this would involve isolating the centers from the grid and the aquifers and/or paying for increased capacity. Putting the centers in rural areas where the land is cheap makes sense to the developers but should be paired with industry sponsored training so the next generation will stay put with good jobs instead of moving to cities.
When the Colorado River runs dry, legislators and governors from Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and California may snap out of their alcohol-and-cocaine fantasies and think about making decisions.
