Get the nuclear regulatory agencies to rewrite Carter's obstructionist rules and you'll see a Nuclear Renaissance, but we will not scale up until then.

I’m very pro nuclear. We have the Shearon Harris plant relatively nearby and I just now learned that only one of the 3 units is operational (928 Mw). We should get those all back online - our area has been growing like crazy since Covid and Duke Power has put hideous solar farms all over the place. NC is the 4th largest Ag state - we need land for farms not ridiculous solar farms.

Nuclear is the most efficient form of energy we have. Frankly we have needed this for decades, even before the AI stuff. I hope this comes to fruition.

Yep. We need more juice and not just for this. Sitting in the interior West, I am sick of being colonized by the coasts who want power but won't let it develop in their jurisdictions. Looking at the map, it appears that the South has an even more powerful grievance.

I had a client show me multiple designs for "neighborhood nuclear", completely self-contained power stations that are buried in a pit in the ground and generate enough energy for 5-10k homes for 30 years with zero maintenance, none of which, acknowledged the client, had any chance of being built because of the idiocy of regulators and voters.

Having grown up in the Cold War, I read the title completely wrong, thinking "what? Isn't that how Skynet came to be???"

Good article totally agree. Nuclear , small nuclear, built on site is the answer . Also using ALL forms of energy excluding none should be employed. Guardrails for the data centers is a must but a divided feckless congress is a detriment not an answer ..there is far to go . One thing for sure if demonrats get power again they will send us into the dark ages….thats a fact, and tax u for it.

Agree. I've been reading Jordan's stuff for years, but I'll have to unsubscribe soon if this substack keeps speaking in cult language.

There are those who believe the government already possesses ZPT, or zero point energy. ZPT would make nuclear, oil and gas obsolete overnight if it was put into mass production. Imagine, all those data centers not even needing new power infrastructure outside of a ZPT box that generates all the power they need, drawn from the air.
