The Islamic Republic is striking our Gulf partners and American bases across the region with drones that cost less than a used car. We are stopping them with hard to produce and expensive missiles.
Maybe a drone with a small air to air missile to take down the drones. Make our drones a little faster so they can get within range. Or even just drones that crash into the drones or get close and explode or drone that shoot off bird shot -00 buck shot. If we can fill the air every fourth of July with fireworks, why can't we do the same to take down drones? You don't need to get all of them. Just as a first line of defense then what gets through needs to be dealt with using more expensive interceptors.
Personally I do not believe this current narrative (US getting its ass kicked by Iranian drones). Remember back in 2009, Obama was the "drone president".

This is what is meant by asymmetric warfare. Iran is using something that may have cost a few thousand dollars equivalent, while the US is firing $1 million missiles to down them.

Is there a better way? Maybe; we just don't have that solution available where we need it.
Globalist neglect of our manufacturing base and not just the military part. WW2 buildup saw massive conversion of civilian manufacturing and that's gone too.

WOW! America is finding out the hard way that it's a whole new ball game. Question! How many drones does it take to sink an aircraft carrier? We may find out real soon, then what? Then, Trump can go to Congress and demand a declaration of war, the draft starts, and ladies get in line. American industry goes on a war footing. Young men rush to get trained to work in war plants. Trump goes to live in his underground bunker. Congress scatters to the four winds. after the massive drone attack on Washington, D.C. With most of the young in uniform, Senior citizens will be drafted for war work.
How is this possible? Its been one quagmire after another with Iran for decades and I guess that still hasn't changed. Of course its possible this information is not true, but it seems to be true. I have never understood why anyone is okay with outsourcing or offshoring critical manufacturing. I don't even like that most of our non-critical stuff is manufactured overseas. One of the things I like most about Trump is his push to bring back manufacturing to the states (whether it will end up being effective or not remains to be seen). But manufacturing aside, I don't think it would fix this current problem. Somebody somewhere (probably multiple somebodies) made conscious decisions to not invest in counter measures to these type of weapons. They had to have known these type of attacks were possible from our adversaries and they also had to have known Iran had these capabilities. Its impossible to believe with all the technology and intelligence network and unlimited budget we have that we didn't know any of this. I can only assume we intentionally put ourselves in this position.

The IRGC in all likelihood would not allow the citizens of that city to leave.
