It’s not your country. It’s your ruling class, no?

Excellent point. The American people aren't the problem. DC is.

The American people (us), by and large, are also the problem. We have allowed this to happen because we allowed ourselves to live more or less according to the principle of hedonistic calculation for decades. We did what seemed most pleasant to us most of the time, and even allowed institutions that should have been opposed to this principle (the churches, e.g.) to play right along with it. Life for us is essentially work and entertainment, with the expectation that work can itself be a form of entertainment. There is no will to resist a regime like the one we have when we the people live like this.

You make a good point. However at some point, once they've been pushed too far, I suspect the great majority of Americans will act to preserve their liberty. Tragically absent valid elections I don't see any peaceful way to solve the problem, which is why I'm now working toward leaving. But most Americans don't have a realistic option of leaving.

It’s true to a great extent. But there is something else afoot here. A lot of what our institutions do is cloaked in legalese that nobody sees and the MSM doesn’t report. The press failed the country because they should have been shining a spotlight on a lot of bad behavior. But they were bought up by large corporations who turned the media into tools for their own economic agenda. Similarly the regulatory apparatus has been captured by the biggest corporations, the revolving door as it were. Most Americans had no idea what was going on. Some because it wasn’t reported, and some because they are apathetic. We pay a lot of money for government services in this country. We pay a lot of money to enforce laws. But who stops the government when it goes rogue? That’s where we are now. We’ve been ripped off. You can say it’s our fault, and you’re partly correct, but it’s more complicated than that.

DC exists due to the voting behavior of the American people. So the American people are the problem. They were crafted to be ignorant Socialists by a deliberately destroyed educational system. But it's their voting patterns that created this monster.

You ain't alone, many in the G20 countries feel the same about their country and government. There is much discontent and plenty of groups around but they are disorganised, infiltrated and being subverted by other actors and lack the skills and knowledge and will they need to actually succeed at this point. Unfortunately, as they say, many have to suffer before they wake up to the reality of freedom lost and find the will to take it back. The people of China being the exception to that, so far gone and the state has become too powerful so they accept their lot in life. Unfortunately, most of our populations are becoming the same as the citizens of China.

Learn to distinguish between country and government. It is the government that is the criminal organization, not your country.
