The bureaucracy as our real government has been the case since the New Deal.

The New Deal was of course like all Deals an exchange: Administrative government in exchange for benefits. This avoids the looting of pure democracy with it's fingers in the national purse by having the real purse controlled by a bureaucracy.

All that happened was when threatened they dropped the mask and rigged an election in the open. We can say "Democrats" but the GOP certainly knows this and did nothing for decades.

As it happens the interests of our governors and We The People are opposed, so there is a power struggle. All politics is Power, any political dispute a struggle for power.

Americans simply have to grow up and face the government they actually have as opposed to Schoolhouse Rock and 6th grade civics.
