I can't say the same for the world of finance, or the parasitic growth of nonprofit and 'quasi-NGO' ('QUANGO') spending that has encrusted every Western country. It is simply a fact that each of these entities, in their own way, is exerting a huge drag on our economy and generating moral hazard and tremendous waste.
Capitalism = getting money for generating value for customers or shareholders. What we have right now is not that. The trends must be reversed, or they will bring the entire edifice down around us. We can have a gradual and orderly revolution in the next few years... or a bloody and chaotic one in the next few decades.
You really, really do the victims of the Deep State a disservice if you tell them that they should be focusing their anger on billionaires. The WSJ piece you screenshotted is evidence of that - it's part of the campaign to redirect outrage at billionaires.
Without a doubt, the system stinks. The American Dream, if it actually existed, is about done for. It is increasingly harder to get ahead. Yet, the younger folks have no financial smarts or don't give a hoot. You can't get ahead, or even save a little, if you indulge yourself every day on horrible, expensive Starbucks or chopped up Mexican culinary in a piece of bread or tomato sauce on dough with a bit of cheese. Years ago, the people who bought homes were not the ones foolishly spending money. Unless you're part of the gaming system, you have to sacrifice joy today for future security. Yes, it's tougher today, but using your credit card or retirement account to pay for non-necessities just isn't very smart. Spending money you don't have to only makes the rich richer.
Each and everyone of us have a choice. You can live within your means and prosper or you can pretend you can do what the Federal Government is doing and spend money you don't have. The system makes it easy to do this with instant credit everywhere and massive credit card limits etc. But in the end its your decision to spend beyond your means and if you do you will suffer the consequences. Its not any fancy program that will set you free folks, Its plain old fashion fiscal prudence.
I get kind of tired of baby boomers getting blamed for everything as some people have commented. I see young people just starting out in homes or apartments that are nicer than anything I have ever lived in my entire life, driving around in $70,000 or more vehicles. Going on very expensive vacations a couple times a year. Then they complain about being in debt. You also have a growing number of people who just flat out refuse to work because they can’t make over $100,000 just starting out. Maybe our expectations are just a little too high and need to be brought down to earth, just saying.
Bifurcation of wealth has been the result of government policy. The period of free money allowed those with excess capital to play financial games while the middle class watched. And that led to huge inflation, a hidden tax affecting the poor and middle classes the most. In the process the donor bunch corrupted our Congress. And we reelect them repeatedly. That was the message of the Tea Party resurrected as MAGA but we hardly changed much. Throw them all out needs to be a constant for the people but the public remains stuck in partisan silos creating stalemate.
We need more leaders like Trump hopefully without his baggage. Hard to find selfless leaders who won’t be captured by special interest cash.
Boomers are generally decent people, mostly unaware (I think) of the ruinous cost their entitlements and retirement programs have on society.

The poorer they are the more tattoos they have.
Good observation. And, those tats aren't cheap.

Skill makes its own luck.
